Working with Drawing Markups

Use

The Drawing tools are used to create markups. Detail View is used to create a detailed view of a specific area within the model.

When you select one of the drawing tools, the cursor changes to a small cross. You can then begin creating a markup by clicking the model’s surface to place the start point. Certain actions are then required to finish creating the markup, and these differ depending on the tool selected as described following.

Activities

Creating Drawing Markups

  1. Click one of the drawing markup tools on the Drawing toolbar. The Tool Assistant opens, displaying the available settings for the type of markup that you’ve selected.

  2. Establish the default markup’s settings and do one of the following:

  • If you’re creating a line markup, click where you want to place the start point and drag to the leader length.

  • If you’re creating an arc markup, click where you want to place the start point, click again to place the center of the arc circumference, and click once more to place the end point.

  • If you’re creating a circle markup or a rectangular markup, click where you want to place the start point and drag outwards and inwards to set the circle radius or markup size.

  • If you’re creating a polyline markup, click where you want to place the start point, click to place the second point, and so on, then right-click to place the end point.

  • If you’re creating a freehand markup, hold down the left mouse button and drag to set the shape.

  • If you’re creating a cloud markup, click where you want to place the start point and drag outwards to set the markup size.

The Drawing Layer object and newly created drawing object are displayed in the 3D Objects list, and a model view is created. You can now edit the markup type, size, and colors in the Tool Assistant.
