Conflict ControlThis function allows you to define which contract assignments are granted discount conditions (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price) if a billing dataset can be assigned to more than one contract during contract determination.
If a billing dataset can be assigned to more than one contract, the system performs this function automatically when creating contract assignments .

A billing dataset can be assigned to more than one contract if contracts for a media customer overlap. You may want to create overlapping contracts in the following circumstances:
You have created two contracts for a media customer so that discount conditions can be inherited using the booking unit hierarchy in particular orders for this customer.
You have created contracts A and B for a media customer. Contract A grants the media customer a discount if they place an ad in the local edition of a daily newspaper. Contract B grants the media customer a discount if they place an ad in the national edition of the same newspaper. If the media customer places an ad in the local edition of a daily newspaper, the billing dataset is assigned to contracts A and B. If you have not selected the
No manual resolution
indicator in conflict control, you can resolve this conflict manually.
You have created a customer bonus contract, media-mix contract and a standard contract for a media customer, so that you can assign multiple discount or alternate discount to orders for this media customer.
You have defined the conflict controls in Customizing that the system uses to select contract assignments that are granted discount conditions (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price) from the temporary contract assignments determined. Alternately, you have copied the conflict controls supplied in the reference clients.

If a billing dataset can be assigned to several contract items as a temporary assignment during contract determination, conflict control can be used to divide these temporary assignments into up to three discount classes. The system selects an assignment from each of these three discount classes that is granted discount conditions. The assignment that is granted discount conditions is the assignment that is determined as the first assignment in the discount class using the sort criteria.
The remaining assignments in the discount class are either deleted or created as parallel assignments . Parallel assignments are not granted discount conditions but contribute towards contract fulfillment. You can control creation of parallel assignments as follows for each discount class:
Prerequisite |
Settings |
You want to create the remaining assignments in a discount class as parallel assignments. |
|
You want to delete the remaining assignments in a discount class. |
|
By making entries in the media customer master record, you can override settings in Customizing for individual media customers.
If several equal assignments are determined within a discount class, system response is dependent on the conflict control that has been assigned to the specified sales area:
If you have not selected the
No manual resolution
indicator when defining the conflict control, you must select the assignments required manually. The system assigns a level of manual influence to the selected assignments and any parallel assignments created according to the settings you have made in Customizing.
If you have selected the

indicator when defining the conflict control, the system selects an assignment at random from all equal assignments.
Conflict controls K000 to K003
Conflict controls
K000, K001
and
K002
are supplied in the reference clients. Assignments that are granted discount conditions are determined as follows in these conflict controls:
Temporary assignments are divided into the following discount classes:
Discount class |
Assignments |
Discount conditions |
3 |
All assignments from customer bonus contracts (
|
Assignments to discount class 3 can be granted the third discount condition (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price). If the system cannot determine any assignments to customer bonus contracts, the third discount condition is not granted. |
2 |
All assignments from contracts that are involved in
media-mix contracts
(
|
Assignments to discount class 2 can be granted the second discount condition (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price). If the system cannot determine any assignments to media-mix contracts, the second discount condition is not granted. |
1 |
All assignments from contracts to which the
sales area
specified in the order has been assigned (
|
Assignments to discount class 1 can be granted the first discount condition (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price). If the system cannot determine any assignments to customer bonus contracts, the first discount condition is not granted. |
The grouping criterion for the discount classes stipulates that when conflict controls
K000, K001, K002
and
K003
are run, all assignments to discount class 3 are determined first, followed by those for discount class 2 and then those for discount class 1. Assignments that were assigned discount class 3 or 2 are no longer taken into account when the system determines the first assignments in discount class 2 or 1.
In the case of sort criteria that have values that can be selected or not selected, the sort sequence is interpreted as follows:
Descending: Selected has priority over deselected.
Ascending: Deselected has priority over selected.
Sort criteria that divide temporary assignments into the three discount classes are identical in conflict controls
K000, K001, K002
and
K003
. Sort criteria that determine the sort sequence within discount class 1 are differentiated as follows:

Assignments are sorted as follows within discount class 1:
If the temporary assignments for discount class 1 include one original assignment, this assignment is granted discount conditions, such as a discount and a bonus. If the temporary assignments contain more than one original assignment, system response is dependent on the conflict control:
Since parallel assignments are not admissible in conflict controls
If the temporary assignments include an original assignment and an assignment to a system contract, the system creates the assignment to this contract. |

Assignments are sorted as follows within discount class 1:
If the temporary assignments for discount class 1 include one original assignment, this assignment is granted discount conditions, such as a discount and a bonus. If the temporary assignments include more than one original assignment that is granted discount, you must select the assignment required manually. The remaining original assignments are deleted, since parallel assignments are not admissible in conflict control
If the temporary assignments include an original assignment that is granted discount and one that is granted bonus, the original assignment that is granted discount is also granted the discount condition. This is because the

If the temporary assignments for discount class 1 include one original assignment, this assignment is granted discount conditions, such as a discount and a bonus. If the temporary assignments include more than one original assignment that is granted discount, the assignment that is granted the highest discount is also granted the discount condition. If the temporary assignments include more than one original assignment that is granted a fixed quantity price, the assignment that is granted the lowest fixed quantity price is granted the discount condition. If the temporary assignments include an original assignment that is granted discount and one that is granted bonus, the original assignment that is granted discount is granted the discount condition. This is because the

field), the system creates assignments to these types of contract as follows:
If there is one original assignment to a system contract in discount class 1, this assignment is granted discount conditions.
If there is one original assignment to a system contract in discount class 1 with 0% discount and an indirect assignment (assignment determined using the booking unit hierarchy) to a contract with 5% discount, the original assignment is granted the discount conditions but the discount of 5% is copied from the indirect assignment. Since parallel assignments are not admissible in conflict controls

for discount class 1, the system deletes the indirect assignment.
The
XMAN_AUSW
indicator has no significance during order processing. During order billing, the
XMAN_AUSW
indicator ensures that an assignment that has been selected manually during order processing is determined again:
If you have resolved a conflict between several equal assignments manually during order processing , the system makes entries in the level of manual influence field according to the Customizing settings for the selected assignments and any parallel assignments created. It deletes the indicator that grants discount conditions in assignments that are not selected.
Contract determination is repeated during
order billing
. In order to determine the assignment that was selected manually during order processing, the system determines all assignments that have been assigned the relevant level of manual influence and selects the
XMAN_AUSW
indicator for the assignment that was selected manually
.
Level of manual influence
You can use the level of manual influence in conflict control to determine how the system is to respond to contract assignments that have been created or changed manually if contract determination is repeated.
Contract assignments are regarded as if they have been assigned manually in the following examples:
During selection of an assignment to resolve a contract conflict (both the selected assignment and the parallel assignment are regarded as manual).
If an assignment is deleted or restored.
If an assignment is reassigned.
You can record various values for
the Level of manual influence
field in conflict control and define overwrite rules that indicate the cases in which an existing assignment is to be overwritten by one created if contract determination is repeated.
Example
You have created two contracts for media customer A that overlap during contract assignment. If the assignment affected has level of manual influence 'Z' (
Manual, overwritten by
everything even if not manual
), it can be overwritten if contract determination is repeated. This means that the same conflict can be resolved differently during the next contract determination run.
Levels of manual influence are recorded for each conflict control and are taken from the conflict control that is valid in the sales area of the assigned order.
If no settings are made here, the system assigns level of manual influence ‘X’ to assignments meaning that they are retained if contract determination is repeated. If an entry with a blank level of manual influence exists, the system defines the contract assignment as not manual in this application.
