System ContractVariant of the standard contract that can be created automatically by the system.
You want the system to create contracts automatically if an advertising service sold fulfills a system contract requirement and the media customer is a contract customer.
Contract customers are to be granted discount conditions (discount, bonus, fixed quantity price) on advertising services sold even if no suitable contract has been created for these customers.
System contracts are to be determined during contract monitoring and measures for promoting sales are to be introduced.
Example
Media customer A receives a discount of 15% on all ads that they place in the
North District
edition and a bonus of 10% at the end of the contract validity period if they place 20 or more ads in this edition.
You have used a system contract requirement to determine that a system contract can be created if a contract customer places an ad in the
Common part
of the daily newspaper.
Media customer A places 20 ads in the
North District
edition and 15 ads in the
Common part
of the daily newspaper.
Media customer A receives the agreed discount of 15% on the 20 ads in the
North
District
edition. The system creates a system contract for the 15 ads in the
Common
part
of the daily newspaper.
During contract monitoring, the system informs the user that media customer A has placed 15 ads in the
Common part
of the daily newspaper. The user contacts media customer A, grants this customer a discount of 15% on 15 ads in the
Common part
of the daily newspaper and creates a contract that contains the
North District
edition and the
Common part
booking unit. This means that this customer can be granted a higher discount in the next contract year for 35 ads sold.
During contract determination, you stipulate that advertising services that are sold by a contract customer lead to the creation of a system contract or can be assigned to this type of contract if they cannot be assigned to any other contract for this customer.
System contracts have the same structure as standard contracts and are created by the system. System contracts contain one contract item to which only one system contract requirement can be assigned as an inclusive requirement.
No target agreements are made with the contract holder in a system contract.
When you confirm the order data, the system checks whether a system contract can be created for any of the assigned order partners. The system creates a system contract in the following situations:
System contracts are admissible in the sales area in which the sales document has been created.
You define this admissibility and the structure of system contracts as follows in Customizing:
Define |
Menu path |
Admissibility and structure of system contracts |
|
Note
If you have entered the value X in Customizing (definition of validity period prior to Release 4.63), the system copies the validity period, contract category and units of measure from the standard contract into the system contract providing that the system contract does not extend the standard contract. The contract requirement from the standard contract must refer to the same item type as the one that was created for the system contract.
Various rules that prevent overlap between system and standard contracts can also be used to define the structure of system contracts. More detailed information is available in the documentation for the system contract data element (IMG activity:
Make General Settings
,
Contract Creation
tab page).
If no standard contract has been created for an order partner, the system defines a default validity period, contract category and units of measure from Customizing. You can define these default settings as follows in Customizing:
Define |
Menu path |
Define default validity period, contract category, unit of measure |

The billing dataset can be assigned to one system contract requirement.
A billing dataset can be assigned to a system contract requirement if its booking unit matches the booking unit for the system contract requirement. This is the case if the respective booking unit is blank in the system contract requirement or is identical to the booking unit in the billing dataset.
The system does not check whether the booking unit is an element in a booking unit hierarchy.
The billing dataset cannot be assigned to any other contract for the media customer as an original assignment.
One of the media customers that has been assigned to the sales document is a contract customer.
A media customer is a contract customer if the
Contract customer
indicator has been selected in the media customer master data on the
Sales Data 3
tab page or the
Contract Sales and
Distribution
tab page if you are using the SAP business partner. You can select this indicator as follows:
Selected by the user when creating or changing the business partner master data.
Selected by the system during contract creation.
A customer profile that qualifies for contract discount has been specified in the media customer master data. Alternatively, the
Qualifies for contract
indicator has been selected on the
Sales Data 3
tab on the
Contract Detail
screen or the
Contract Sales and Distribution
tab page if you are using the SAP business partner. You can define customer profiles as follows in Customizing:

The system does not display the system contract to which a billing dataset can be assigned during sales document processing.
When you create a final settlement, you determine whether a contract holder can be granted discount conditions from system contracts.
Note
You cannot perform interim settlement for system contracts.
You can define whether final settlement can be performed for system contracts as follows in Customizing:
Define |
Field |
Menu path |
Settlement of system contracts |

The following settings are available to you when defining default values for this field:
You can perform final settlement for system contracts.
You cannot perform final settlement for system contracts.
You can only perform final settlement for system contracts if a standard contract has been created for the contract holder.
