Installing the SAP Inventory Manager Application

Prerequisites

Address the following items before installing the application:
  • The SAP Mobile Platform must have been installed and an Agentry application defined within it. To define an Agentry application within this environment, see the documentation for the SAP Mobile Platform, specifically the topic Defining Applications.

  • The Agentry Editor is at least version sp13 pl06 (70.13.6).

  • The Mobile Add-On for ERP must be installed to the SAP system.

Context

This procedure describes the steps to install the SAP Inventory Manager application to the runtime environment, as well as making it available for import into the Eclipse workspace as an Agentry application project.

When this procedure is complete, it is necessary to perform initial configuration of the SAP Inventory Manager. Specifically, configuration options related to communications between the SAP Inventory Manager clients and the Agentry application must be set within the runtime environment.

Overall within this procedure you’ll run the applicable executable file for SAP_INVENTORY_MANAGER_44 and run the configuration tool provided with the application to set the implementation-specific configuration options.

The following file is used in the implementation of this application.

Procedure

  1. Launch the installer executable for the SAP Inventory Manager.

    The Welcome screen displays.

  2. Click Next to continue the installation.

The SAP Connectivity Information screen displays.

  3. Enter the name of the SAP application server.
  4. Enter the Client Number and System Number the SAP Mobile Platform uses to communicate with the SAP application server.
  5. By default, the SAP S/4HANA backend box isn’t checked.
    • If unchecked, the SAP system isn’t an SAP S/4HANA system and during the installation, a BAPI constants file is generated. This file contains an SAP table and field names, and can be found in the Java folder.
    • If checked, the SAP system is an SAP S/4HANA system and during the installation, a BAPI constants file and an SAP S/4HANA BAPI constants file are generated in which SAP S/4HANA BAPI constants file overrides the BAPI constants file. The BAPI constants file contains an SAP table and field names while the SAP S/4HANA BAPI constants file contains SAP S/4HANA field names. These files can be found in the Java folder.
  6. By default, the SAP HANA Cloud Platform box isn’t checked.
    • If unchecked, the SAP system isn’t an SAP HANA Cloud system and SAP Mobile Platform installation and configuration can proceed as normal.
    • If checked, it means that the SAP system is an SAP Business Technology Platform system. ForSAP Mobile Platform installation and configuration instructions, see the SAP Agentry Cloud Edition (ACE) Quick Start Guide, Step 7.

Click Next to continue. The User Information screen displays.

  7. Enter the Service User Name and Service User Password. The service user is an administrative user established as a proxy for all users.

The Choose Install Location screen displays.

  8. To specify the destination directory for the deployment ZIP file, either enter the path manually or click Browse and select the location in the File Explorer dialog. Click Install to proceed with the installation. Click Finish to close the installer when the final screen is displayed.
  9. Open the Cockpit as an administrator and publish the deployment ZIP file. For more information on the Cockpit, see Configuring the Application in the Administration Cockpit.

The SAP Inventory Manager application is now published and can be immediately accessed by the clients.

  10. Install the SAP Mobile Platform certificate on the clients and perform an initial sync to the server using the appropriate server URL.

Results

The SAP Mobile Platform software has been installed to the Windows host system. The software includes the server executable, as well as the SAP Inventory Manager application, as provided by SAP.

Next Steps

Deploy the application to the runtime environment, specifically to the defined Agentry application within the runtime. For details on this procedure see the information provided with the SAP Mobile Platform, including the section Deploying Applications.
