The Business Process Monitoring app offers numerous key performance indicators (KPIs) for the most relevant aspects in cloud-centric solutions. The majority of KPIs are structured according to the following SAP standard end-to-end business processes:

  • Lead to Cash

  • Source to Pay

  • Design to Operate

  • Recruit to Retire

You can find a full list of all KPIs available for business process monitoring under Business Process Monitoring - ContentInformation published on SAP site in the Expert Portal for SAP Cloud ALM for operations.

In addition to the KPIs delivered out of the box, you can also create and monitor custom KPIs for services and systems that are based on SAP BTP and ABAP. For more information, see Setting Up Custom KPIs.

KPI Categories

The following KPI categories are available in the Business Process Monitoring app:

KPI Category

Data and Details

Time Frame Selection

Throughput figures measure the total number of business documents, line items, or schedule lines that are processed within the selected time frame.

The KPI value represents the total number of business documents.

Example: Sales Documents Created

Single business documents, with full details, are available for the defined retention time for single executions (last 1–30 days).

The data is collected from the managed system every 15 minutes.

The exact timing of the data collection can vary per KPI and per managed system.

All documents that were created, or whose corresponding invoice lies within the defined time frame, are displayed.

The creation time typically corresponds to your system time. This means that the timestamps shown in the business documents typically don't reflect your local time.

Lead time figures measure the processing time from a defined start point to a corresponding end point of a business process.

The KPI value represents the average processing time for the completed instances and business documents.

Example: Sales Document Item Creation to Invoice Creation

Backlog figures measure the number of business documents, line items, or schedule lines that are blocked, incomplete, or not completely processed by an expected date.

The KPI value represents the total number of business documents.

Example: Open Sales Documents

Single business documents and error messages with full details are available for the last known snapshot. Data from all previous snapshots is only retained as aggregated data.

The data collection frequency of backlog and exception KPIs is intelligent.

Depending on the number of records per KPI in the system, the data is collected between once every 15 minutes and once a day.

The exact timing of the data collection can vary per KPI and per managed system.

Details of all last known snapshots that lie within the selected time frame are displayed.

The time frame selection refers to the point in time in which the snapshot was collected in the managed system.

Exception figures collect the number of error messages that occurred during a business transaction.

The KPI value represents the total number of error messages.

Example: Failed Goods Movements During Production Order Confirmation
