Job & Automation Monitoring
Job & Automation Monitoring serves as your centralized command center for overseeing automation processes across SAP products when you're not using a central job scheduler. In practical application, this means you can monitor the health and performance of jobs running in different SAP systems from a single interface. The solution collects real-time execution data from each job, analyzes it against historical patterns to detect anomalies like delayed starts or unusual runtimes, and assigns performance ratings.
When you need to investigate an issue, you can drill down from the job definition to view its execution history, then navigate directly to the source system to take corrective action—such as stopping a runaway process or restarting a failed job. Future enhancements will enable you to perform these critical management actions directly from the central monitor without switching contexts.
This monitoring capability becomes particularly valuable when you're running integrated SAP Intelligent Suite scenarios where multiple products execute their own custom automation processes independently. Instead of logging into each product separately to check job statuses—SAP S/4HANA for financial close processes, SAP Ariba for procurement workflows, SAP SuccessFactors for HR batch jobs—you gain a unified view with consistent navigation and status indicators across all systems.
-
Execution Status - Status of job or automation completion: Green (OK) when the job or automation has successfully completed, Red (error) when the job or automation is aborted, and Yellow (warning) when the job or automation has finished with warnings or errors without aborting.
-
Application Status - Status of job or automation in processing the application data: Green (OK) when the job or automation has successfully processed the data, Red (error) when the job or automation enters errors into the application log, and Yellow (warning) when the job or automation processed with warnings but no errors.
-
Start Delay - Status of start delay of the job or automation: Green (OK) status when the technical delay did not exceed the defined threshold, Red (error) when it did. Start delay is calculated as follows:
Start Delay = (Actual Start Time) - (Scheduled Start Time)
-
Run Time - Status of run time of the job or automation: Green (OK) status when the run time did not exceed the defined threshold, Red (error) when it did.
This app collects an individual job's execution data, correlates it to the related job definition, and evaluates every execution using historical data. The rating of the last execution is propagated to the job level, and finally to the managed component level, so that you can easily understand the current status of the executed jobs.
