Assigning Transports and Adding Manual Transport References
Learn how to assign transports and add manual transport references.
Assign transports for the implementation of your features.
-
Transports
-
Transport references: You can create manual references of transports that can't be managed from a deployment perspective by SAP Cloud ALM.
After you've assigned one or more transports to a feature, you can deploy the assigned transports if they are in status Released.
Assigning Transports
Prerequisites
-
For CTS, you've activated the Transports: Read use case task on your source systems. For more information, see Activate the Use Case Transports.
-
The transports you want to assign aren't already assigned to another feature.
Use
Depending on your environment, you can assign transports only in different statuses.
-
You can assign modifiable or released CTS-managed transports.
-
You can assign released CTMS transports.
-
A transport can only be assigned to one feature.
-
You can't assign transport of copies to a feature.
-
For required roles, see Roles and Authorizations.
In the Transport Analysis app, you get an overview of all your system transports. You can search transports and check which feature they're assigned to. For more information, see Transport Analysis.
CTMS Transport Assignment Restriction
In the transport assignment dialog, CTMS transports can only be assigned if source transport nodes are assigned to systems of a system group. It's a prerequisite to assign the deployment plan containing the system group to a project.
In the Projects and Setup app, you can check if the CTMS source transport node is assigned in a system group in your deployment landscape.
Enabling CTMS Transport Assignment:
This video shows you how to enable CTMS transport assignment:
-
To assign transports for a source transport node defined in CTMS, you have to create a system group for one of the following products in the Projects and Setup app:
-
SAP Analytics Cloud
-
SAP BTP, ABAP Environment
-
SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry environment
-
SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry runtime
-
SAP BTP, Neo environment
-
SAP Build Apps
-
SAP Build Process Automation
-
SAP Build Work Zone, advanced edition
-
SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition
-
SAP Destination service
-
SAP Destination service (Neo)
-
SAP Excise Tax Management
-
SAP Entitlement Management
-
SAP Group Reporting Data Collection
-
SAP Integration Suite
-
SAP Integration Suite (API Management)
-
SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration)
-
SAP Mobile Services
-
-
Then, you have to assign a source transport node to the development tenant, which is assigned to the role Development in the system group.
-
Next, you have to assign the system group to your deployment plan that you're using for your project. This restricts the assignment of transports to features in a project to only those coming from the defined source transport node.
Procedure
