Creating Transport of Copies

Learn more about creating transport of copies. Currently, it's only possible to create transport of copies of CTS-managed transports.

Prerequisites

  • Before you use the transport of copies functionality, make sure that you implemented SAP Note 3322679 Information published on SAP site and 3747311 Information published on SAP site.

  • You can only create transports of copies with transports in status Modifiable and all transport tasks in status released.

  • You've activated the following use case tasks for CTS:

    • Transports: Read Landscape use case task in client 000 of your domain controller.

    • Transports: Read use case task in your source system and client.

    • Transports: Create & Export (client-specific). For more information about use case tasks, see Activating the Use Case Transports.

  • For required roles, see Roles and Authorizations.

Context

Transport your software changes to the test system without having to transport them automatically to other successor systems in your transport track. The objects are transported with the version from the current managed system. The original location of the objects remains unchanged.

Transports of copies (ToCs) are created, released, and imported automatically into the consolidation system.

Transports and transport of copies (ToCs) are imported with the Transports: Import use case task. Deactivating the use case task while ToCs are still in the import queue can cause downgrades. This happens if you manually import the original transports via STMS and then reactivate the use case task later. To avoid this, implement SAP Note 3747311 Information published on SAP site.

Procedure

To create a transport of copies, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Copy in the transport section.

  2. Select the transports you want to copy from the list.

  3. Save your changes.

If the creation of a transport of copies failed, choose the transport of copies icon to get more information.
