How the EH&S Expert Works
The EH&S Expert is a standalone Windows PC program. This program communicates with the EH&S database by means of RFC using a standardizesd BAPI interface.

Expert is called from EHS using a BAPI
The EH&S Expert is called from the EH&S. The call is passed to the Expert server running on any PC. This server reads the data of the specifications over the BAPI interface.

Expert is called, data read from EH&S, calculated and written to EH&S
The input facts (IN) of the set of rules are filled with these data. The rules from the set of rules are used to perform calculations with the facts and calculate new data for other facts. The output facts (OUT) are read out after processing all the rules and written to the specification database by means of the BAPI interface.

EHS details are mapped using Expert objects, e.g. characteristics are mapped using facts
The facts and rules of the EH&S Expert are stored in a rule file. The rule file is a text file that is created automatically when creating rules with the rule editor. You can also create and edit the rule file with any text editor.
Facts and other components (records, compositions, internal phrases) from the set of rules are assigned to the elements (characteristics, value assignment types, phrase keys etc.) in mapping tables. This means that you can first create the rules independently of the specification database.
