Suppressing Blank TextFollow this procedure to suppress the output of data if a particular value does not exist.
You have created the document template and inserted the required text, identifier, specification, and parameter symbols (see Document Template Layout Editing).
You first have to define the symbols for which values have to exist to output the values of defined additional symbols or Microsoft Word text. You can adopt these control symbols from the document template or symbol tree:
Select the required symbols of the type Specification
(01) or Parameter
(02) in the document template.
On the Blank Compression
tab page below the Temp. Symbols
group box, choose
with the quick info text Insert Symbol from Template
.
The selected symbols are displayed in the Templ. Symbols
group box.
Transfer the required symbols from the Templ. Symbols
group box to the Control Symbols
group box by double-clicking (or by choosing
with the quick info text Move to Right
).
Select a symbol of the type Specification
(01) or Parameter
(02) in the symbol tree.
On the Blank Compression
tab page below the Control Symbols
group box, choose
with the quick info text Insert Symbol from Tree
.
The symbol from the symbol tree is transferred to the Control Symbols
group box.
Note
You can edit or delete control symbols. To do this, below the Control Symbols
group box, choose
with the quick info text Edit Symbol
or
Delete Symbol
.
Below the group box, set one of the following indicators, as required:
Relation | Control symbol |
|---|---|
AND | – |
OR | + |
With Alternative | For example: <13CNG000> <13ENG000> |
See also Blank Compression and Blank Compression Example.
In the document template, select the symbol or text that is to be suppressed if no value for the control symbol exists.
Above the Blank Compression
tab page, choose
with the quick info text Insert WWI Object in Template
.
Blank compression is inserted around the selected area.
Note
Blank compressions have the report symbol type 13.
The following applies for blank compressions within Microsoft Word tables containing multiple cells:
If blank compression encloses entire table rows, the applicable table cells are completely suppressed:
Row 1 | ||
<13BNG001(...)> row 2 | Text | ...<13ENG001> |
Row 3 |
Result when text is suppressed:
Row 1 | ||
Row 3 |
If the blank compression encloses only parts of table rows, only the content of the enclosed cells will be suppressed. The actual cells are retained:
Row 1 | ||
Row 2 | <13BNG001(...)> text | ...<13ENG001> |
Row 3 |
Result when text is suppressed:
Row 1 | ||
Row 2 | ||
Row 3 |
