Create and process query

Prerequisites

You have change authorization for the query group in which the query you want to create and edit is located.

If you want to copy query steps from queries of other groups or move them to the current query, you also need authorization for the other group.

Procedure

  1. Call the specification workbench.

  2. In the navigation area, choose Specification Category. Specification Category stands for the Specification Category of the specifications for which you want to create a query or for which you have created the query that you want to edit.

This takes you to Edit Specification: Initial Screen.

  3. Choose UtilitiesQuery → Load.

The group overview of the queries is displayed.

  4. Choose Display <-> Change.

  5. Perform one of the following steps:

    • If you want to edit an existing query, continue with step 8.

    • To create a query, choose Create Query.

    You go to Query: Create.

  6. Enter the required data. You have the following options for entering the query key in the Grp entry field:

    • You can manually enter a new key.

    • You can select an existing query from the input help. However, in this case, only the key of this query is applied; all query steps of this query are deleted and the query is overwritten.

    Note Note

If you want to use an existing query as a copy template, you must copy this and then edit the copy as described here.

    End of the note.
  7. Save and confirm your entries.

You go back to the group overview of the queries, from where you must edit the new query.

  8. Place the cursor on the query you want to edit and choose Query Overview .

This takes you to Edit Query: Step Overview. From here, you have several ways of editing the query. You can:

    Note Note

You cannot edit queries that are used elsewhere.

You can simulate the edited query from the query overview. To do this, choose Simulate Query.

    End of the note.
