Search and Data Output in the Specification Information System In Customizing for
Basic Data and Tools

Specification Information System
section.
You have authorization to display specification data.
Note
The usage check is carried out for the active usages of a data record for a value assignment. If there is no active usage for a data record, the system checks if the user has general authorization.
If you want to use different output variants, you need display authorization for the display variant group EMPTY.
You access the
specification information system
via the
specification workbench
. Here you have the same search options as in
specification management
(see
Specification Search
).
The results of the search are displayed in the hit list and can be fine-tuned from here.
In the specification workbench you can display the data for a selected specification. For example, you can display
individual properties
with all additional information directly in the property tree. To display the data for several properties and other specification data such as identifiers, select an output variant and start the

. The standard system contains the following output variants for the output of substance data, that is for the output of data for specifications of the specification category

Recommendation
We recommend you use the output variant SUB_OUTPUT for the following reasons:
You can output all specification data with this output variant, that is all header data and value assignment data.
This output variant contains a user-friendly output layoutwith which you can stipulate which data is output and how it is arranged and displayed (in the SAP system, with Microsoft Excel, or in HTML format in a browser). You can therefore easily adapt the output to suit your requirements.

All output variants are implemented as user exits so that you can define additional output variants of your own under
Manage User Exits
in Customizing for
Basic Data and Tools
. The output variants contained in the standard system and all other output variants defined in Customizing are listed in the
group overview
of output variants in the EMPTY group.
Except for the output variant to display regulatory list assignments (SUBLIST), you can use all output variants to display value assignment type data. You can assign value assignment types as the default setting in Customizing for the output variants COMPONENT, EXCEL, EXCEL-LAB, EXCEL-REG, and VALUATION. You can use all the output variants defined in Customizing as copy templates to create your own output variants in which, for example, you can set other value assignment types for output. To do so, you can copy and edit output variants in the group overview of output variants. In the group overview, you can also move the new output variants between the different groups, delete them, and edit the header data of the output variants. You can use the new output variants for output at any time just like the ones created in Customizing.
