Configure Deletion of Long Text Logs

Use

Conscientious configuration of the long text logs is very important for the correct deletion of long text logs without detriment to system performance using the transaction S_ AUT05 or the report S_AUT_DEL.

Configuration of the long text logs and regular execution of S_AUT05 or the report S_AUT_DEL - at sufficiently short intervals - also has a positive influence on the performance of evaluations carried out with the transaction S_AUT10. See also: Delete Long Text Logs.

A direct 1:1 relationship between a transaction and a long text (text object, text ID) is not possible. However, it is possible to draw conclusions from the long texts tha have been created regarding the transactions that generated them. Configuration of the long texts logs is necessary for this purpose too.

Procedure

We recommend the following procedure, by means of which transaction S_AUT10 first provides you with a "positive list" of the long text changes to be logged. Carry out the following steps for all transactions containing GxP-relevant long texts:

  1. Generate input for the long texts which for you are GxP-relevant with the appropriate transaction.

  2. Carry out an evaluation with transaction S_AUT10 using the following selection conditions:

    • Long Text

      Set the indicator.

    • Start Date

Enter the date on which you made the change to the long text.

    • Transaction Code

Enter the transaction with which you made the above-mentioned long text changes.

  3. The system displays the evaluation results in an overview list, in which you will find your long text changes. Sort this list according to the following criteria:

    • Table key

    • Date

    • Time

In the Table Key field, the data on the long text is shown in the form Application Object: <Text Object> and Text ID: <Text-ID>.

Information on the writing transaction is available in the Transaction field. This gives you the assignment of a transaction to long texts.

  4. After you have performed the above-mentioned steps for all transactions containing GxP-relevant long texts, start the transaction S_ AUT04.

In transaction S_AUT04, configure the deletion of the long text logs in accordance with your "positive list". This means that all long texts that are not on your "positive list" can be flagged for deletion.
