Finding Global Data Types (GDT Finder)
Procedure
When you map fields (simple data types), you need to assign each field to a global data type (GDT) or core data type (CDT). In the case of GDTs, you can use the Global Data Type (GDT) Finder to identify an existing mapping or GDT. Proceed as follows:
-
Start transaction SIW and navigate to your project in the project tree.
-
Expand its mapping node and navigate to a field (simple type). Change into edit mode and double-click the name. The system then displays the detail screen and the GDT Finder group box at the bottom.
-
Select the Existing Mapping tab page of the GDT Finder group box and check if the GDT Finder suggests a data type. This is the case, if the characteristic value has already been mapped to a global data type within another project (enterprise service implementation) of the same local namespace.
-
If the GDT Finder suggests a global data type, check whether it fits.
-
If it fits, double-click it and choose Save. You have now finished mapping this data type. Restart the procedure for the next field.
-
If it does not fit or if the GDT Finder does not suggest a global data type, continue as follows:
Select the Local GDT tab page. Check if the GDT Finder suggests a global data type for your local namespace and decide whether it fits.
-
If it fits, double-click the suggested global data type and choose Save. You have now finished mapping this data type. Restart the procedure for the next field.
-
If it does not fit, or if the GDT Finder does not suggest a data type, proceed as follows:
-
-
Result
You have selected an appropriate global data type for each field and, if necessary, provided global data types within SIW if the GDT Finder has not suggested any.
