Overwrite Dictionary Entries Locally
Learn about applying local changes for dictionary entry attributes.
To specify a value for the current process context, you can overwrite attribute values from a referenced dictionary entry locally.
To overwrite the value of an attribute, follow these steps:
-
Open the attribute panel. All attributes that are defined by a dictionary entry are marked with
(dictionary). -
In the diagram, select the element with the attribute you want to change.
-
Select the attribute value in the attribute panel.
You're warned that local changes don't affect the dictionary entry.
-
Choose OK to continue. Depending on the attribute, an editing dialog opens.
-
Enter the attribute value. When the new value is applied, the attribute is marked with a red
(dictionary).
Editing the Label of a Linked Element
When you edit the label of an element linked to a dictionary entry, the system's behavior depends on the scope of the changes you make.
-
Adding a prefix or a suffix:
If you add text before or after the original dictionary term, the link is maintained. The system continues to update the core text from the dictionary while preserving your additions.
-
Changing the label text completely:
If you change the label text so that the original dictionary term is no longer part of it, the link to the dictionary entry is broken. The label is no longer automatically updated from the dictionary.
Remove Local Changes
To undo the local change of an attribute value, follow these steps:
-
Open the attribute panel. All attributes with local changes are marked with a red
(dictionary). -
Choose the red
(dictionary). The dialog Dictionary entry opens. Here, the local changes and the attribute in the dictionary entry are shown.
-
To reset the value to the value from the dictionary entry, choose Revert.
The reversion is confirmed.
-
Close the dialog with Close.
