Manually Syncing BPMN Models to SAP Cloud ALM

Learn how to manually synchronize any available revision of Business Process Modeling and Notation (BPMN) models from the SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite to SAP Cloud ALM.

Prerequisites

  • You subscribed to SAP Connectivity Platform and added SAP Cloud ALM under Integrations, as described in SAP Cloud ALM for Implementation.

  • You've checked that your SAP Cloud ALM and SAP Signavio tenants are already provisioned in SAP for MeInformation published on SAP site.

  • To be able to edit models and create new revisions, your workspace administrator activated the feature set SAP Signavio Process Manager - create and edit BPMN processes for your user, as described in Activating Feature Sets.

  • To be able to sync model revisions, your workspace administrator activated the feature set General - Diagram Import/Export for your user, as described in Activating Feature Sets.

  • You have an Enterprise Plus license assigned to your user.

Context

The SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite is integrated with SAP Cloud ALM to enhance solution documentation and process design capabilities across connected systems. Access your BPMN model from SAP Signavio Process Collaboration Hub. You can make edits and keep your models in sync when you export model revisions from the SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite to SAP Cloud ALM.

Procedure

  1. From the header area of SAP Signavio Process Collaboration Hub, choose (User Profile Menu - your initials).
  2. Select Start of the navigation pathView Next navigation step PreviewEnd of the navigation path.

    The Preview banner opens to confirm that you're working in preview mode.

  3. Navigate to and open your BPMN model's folder.

    A table displays a list of any models previously saved in the folder.

  4. From the table, you can sync your model one of the following two ways:
    • Sync the latest revision: Find your model's row, choose More, and select Sync with SAP Cloud ALM. You can only sync the latest available revision of the model using this method.

    • Sync any available revision: Select your model's name to open the model and choose the revision you'd like to sync to SAP Cloud ALM. Select More and choose Sync with SAP Cloud ALM. You can synchronize any revision of a model using this method.

  5. Choose Confirm and sync.

Details

The synchronization is in progress

A dialog shows that the synchronization is in progress. If you refresh the page, the badge SAP Cloud ALM appears on top of the model. Select the badge to get more details about the synchronization status.

You can also view which revision of the model is getting synchronized by selecting the revision switcher on top of the model page. The revision in synchronization shows the In progress icon.

The synchronization can take up to two minutes.

You can't start a new sync for any revision of the model until the existing synchronization is complete.

The synchronization is successful

Once synchronization is complete, a confirmation message appears with a link for navigating to the synced model in SAP Cloud ALM.

Once you refresh the page, you see the badge SAP Cloud ALM on top of the model. Select the badge to navigate to the model in SAP Cloud ALM.

You can also view which revision of the model is synchronized in one of the following two ways:
  • Hover over the badge.

  • Select the revision switcher on top of the model page.

The synchronization fails

You see the badge SAP Cloud ALM on top of the model. Select the badge to view the reason for failure.

Next Steps

(Optional) If you want to undo the sync or change the synchronized model in SAP Cloud ALM, edit the synchronized model in SAP Signavio Process Manager, then sync the new revision with SAP Cloud ALM.
