Export: Process
Purpose
This process describes the export of sources, phrases, specification data, property trees, and report templates.

Prerequisites
You have specified the settings in the
Import and Export
IMG section in Customizing forBasic Data and Tools
.You have checked the environment parameter
EXPORT_CHARACTER_NORM
in the IMG activitySpecify Environment Parameters
(see Character Standard ).You have authorization for export.
You have write authorization for the transfer files.
Process Flow
After you have selected the objects to be exported, check the export parameters.
NoteWhen importing specifications, phrases, and sources, you can enter an exchange profile for which the export parameters have already been defined.
You define exchange profiles in Customizing for
Basic Data and Tools
underSpecify Exchange Profiles
.End of the note.You start export and the SAP system runs it in the background.
Result
You can check the export job as follows:
a.In the Basic Data and Tools menu , choose
Tools
Export Log
and then the respective function.b. Position the cursor on your job and choose
Job log.

If necessary, you can display the long text for a message by choosingLong text.
If the export is successful, the data is created in transfer format in the transfer directory on the application server. The export format of the data corresponds to the syntax required by the import program.
You can copy this file to your PC: In the Basic Data and Tools menu , choose
Tools
Data Transfer
Download File.
In the same way, you can copy the file to your application server by choosing Tools
Data Transfer
Upload File.
