Enhancement Contents

Definition

Contents that are maintained in enhancement contexts are called enhancement contents. Enhancement contents can refer to a functional enhancement of the SAP system, such as an SAP Add-On, or to an application developed by the customer, but this need not be the case. However, this does not have to be the case. Enhancement documentation created by the customer can refer to the standard system while giving greater consideration to customer-specific processes. Enhancement contents can also have no reference to SAP applications.

Examples of enhancements:

  • Customer-specific help for SAP applications, created by customers

  • Help for applications developed by customers, created by customers

  • Customer-specific training contents, created by customers

Use

Customers maintain all enhancement context contents in the customer namespace. They can use the general SAP Knowledge Warehouse customer namespace /KWCUST/ or another customer namespace.

Integration

If a new enhancement context is created when customizing SAP KW, a SAP standard release must always be specified as base release for this context.

Displaying Enhancements in Application Help

To display enhancements in the application help in a SAP system, the information must be available, and the relevant enhancement context must be set up in a customizing activity in the SAP system (see IMG activity Start of the navigation pathKnowledge Management Next navigation step Settings in the Application System Next navigation step Sequence of EnhancementsEnd of the navigation path). The SAP system help processor displays the appropriate info object versions for the existing configuration of enhancement contexts when the application help is called.

  • In the application help (Start of the navigation pathHelp Next navigation step Application HelpEnd of the navigation path), standard help links can be overwritten by help links specifically created for the enhancement context.
