Areas

Definition

The different areas in SAP KW usually denote the purpose for which the contents are used.

SAP KW is delivered with the content models for different areas, such as Management, Documentation, Training, QM Manuals, and HTML-Based Documents. There are a number of different Info Object Classes, that is, different types of info objects that can be used to create contents, in each of these areas.

Use

The areas in SAP KW are modeled for the following purposes:

Management area

This area is used to store navigation structures and other tools such as macro files for online editing and printing documents with SAP GUI for Windows.
Documentation area

In this area you can store or create info objects that you want to use in your documentation.

Note

If you want to create customer-specific help links, you should create the contents in an area that is not the documentation area. The help settings (transaction SR13) provide you with SAP standard help in the Documentation and XML Documentation areas. At the same time, you can set the help type ‘DynamicHelp’ for a different area for customer-specific documentation. Both help types can be displayed in the same client.
Training area

In this area you can store or create info objects that you want to use in your training material.
QM Manuals area

In this area, you can store or create info objects that you want to use for quality management manuals.
HTML-based Documents area
In this area you can create info objects directly in the HTML format.
