Creating Content Objects

Use

You can create content objects (for example, Word, PowerPoint, Visio objects) using a content template or from an existing file (drag and drop).

Prerequisites

You have logged on to the SAP Knowledge Warehouse System using SAP GUI for Windows and you are either in the initial screen or in the Info Object List.

If the info objects are to be created without drag and drop, the Info Object Classes require content types.

Procedure

To create a content object in the Info Object List using content type, proceed as follows:

Position the cursor in the folder in which you want to create the content object.
Note

This step assigns the content object to the right folder.

If you omit this step, the Folder Selection dialog box is displayed and you must specify the required folder there.
Choose Info Object Create Content Objects / Structures.
The Info Object Class dialog box appears.
Select the Info Object Class Text (or Topic), Slide, Visio Graphic (only in QM Manual area) or HTML (only in HTML-Based Documents area).
The dialog box Create Content Object appears.
Enter the required data.

By maintaining the default values, a preassignment of the attributes may already exist.
Choosing Transfer takes you to the editing of the content object.

Note

Special features for HTML objects: You receive the information that the HTML editor is only started after choosing Continue and that this SAP GUI session must remain for a successful saving. The HTML editor is opened outside of the SAP GUI.
Enter and save the required data.
Use Back to return to the Info Object List.

To create a content object in the initial screen or in the Info Object List of the SAP Knowledge Warehouse using drag and drop, proceed as follows:

Prerequisite: The Microsoft Office document (DOC / PPT / VSD) you want to use as content object must already exist outside of the SAP KW.
Select the required file in the Explorer and use drag and drop to drag it to the required folder in the favorites list, the entry structure or in the Info Object List.
Note that for the creation of the display formats only three-digit formats (DOC / PPT / VSD) are permitted.
The assignment of the files to Info Object Classes is displayed.
If a suitable Info Object Class (text, graphic, Visio object) for the selected file exists for the selected area, the Info Object Class with the generation of a display format is proposed as default. Means the Info Object Class Text for a Word file.
Choose Activities Maintain Attributes to continue with the generation process.
If the data analysis fails, you can display the details in the application log (transaction SLG1) after completing the process.
The maintenance of the info object attributes is displayed.
Double-click on the attribute you want to maintain. All mandatory attributes need to be filled so that the info object generation can be completed.
Choose Activities Check In.
If problems occur, the application log is displayed directly. If the check-in was successful, the display of the application log is optional.

Result

The content object was created in the corresponding folder.
