Creating Attributes

Use

The process of creating a content model is intended to take the individual user’s requirements into account as much as possible. Therefore, when creating a content model, it is advisable that you create your own attributes, as well as using the attributes proposed by the system. Your attributes should enable you to manage and select your documents in the most efficient way possible.

When creating your own attributes, you first have to save them separately in an appropriate folder, before you can assign them to classes.

Procedure

  • Right-click on the folder IO Attributes to open the context menu. Choose Create. The dialog box Create Modeling Object opens.

  • Enter the name of your new IO attribute and a short description.

  • Choose Copy Data. The new attribute is now transferred to the attribute list.

  • Make the object directory entry in the next dialog box, the same way as for LOIO classes.

  • Activate the attribute.

To specify the new attribute as the instance attribute for documents in a specific class, proceed as follows:

  • Decide which class contains the documents for which you want to use the attribute, and open the Modeling Object Properties view of that class by double-clicking the name of the class.

  • On the Instance Attributes tab page, either enter the name of the attribute, or open the Restrict Value Range dialog box and enter * as the IO attribute.

You switch to the following view:

The new attribute is included in this list.

  • Click on the attribute to select it.

  • Choose Execute to proceed.

You go back to the view Model Object Properties.

  • Now you have to assign a property to the attribute (see Modeling Object Attributes). Set a property flag in accordance with your requirements.

  • Save the changes.
