If you are using SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), you can determine batches directly in SAP EWM instead of using batch determination in SAP ERP. Batch determination in SAP EWM takes into account the warehouse layout in SAP EWM (and can be of use, for example, when optimizing the picking process). In this case, SAP ERP only transfers the characteristics as batch selection criteria to SAP EWM.

Integration

To use batch determination across multiple systems, you have connected SAP EWM to SAP ERP.

Prerequisites

  • You have activated business function LE, Extended Warehouse Management Integration.

  • You have configured the required settings in Customizing for SAP ERP:

    • You have set up a warehouse of type ERP with EWM (Extended Warehouse Management).

    • You have set the indicator Batch Determination in EWM using Batch Attribute Replication.

    • You have activated automatic batch determination in sales and distribution for order items and for delivery items.

    • Batch-managed material with assigned batch selection class and characteristics is created.

    • Condition tables for the batch search have been maintained.

    • Corresponding stock in batches with the required characteristics is available.

Features

If you have specified that batch determination is to take place in SAP EWM, no batches are transferred from SAP ERP to SAP EWM when an outbound delivery is created – with or without an order reference. Instead, only characteristics that were selected as batch selection criteria either via the batch selection class or manually when creating the outbound delivery or sales order, are sent to SAP EWM and distributed.

In addition, two Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) are available for you to override the batch determination setting defined in Customizing for each storage location, and to change the batch selection criteria used in the batch determination to meet your individual requirements.
