General Ledger Data S/4HANA

This Model Table function is used to provide periodic general ledger totals from the relevant accounts.

It defines the following fields:

  • Posting Date: You use this field to provide GL totals on a yearly, quarterly, monthly, or even daily basis to run the IT cost management process.

  • Account Number: You use this field to identify revenues and costs at a granular level. This field is also referred to as Cost Element.

  • Functional Area: You use this field for segment reporting and drill-down. This field is also referred to as Business Segment.

  • Company Code: IT cost management is usually executed at controlling area level, which spans multiple companies and legal entities. Therefore, this field can have different values and it is also available in reporting.

  • Cost Center: This is the lowest granularity level in a company or legal entity where costs are pooled and controlled. Therefore, the responsibility for those costs is instantiated.

  • Amount in Company Code Currency: You use this field to specify the amount in company code currency that represents costs or revenues. It is only presented in functions, but not used in modeling.

  • Company Code Currency: The currency of the group is the currency used to allocate costs in this sample content. This is because it is common practice to translate every amount into the same currency so that only one currency (Group Currency) is used in the complete allocation model. This field shows the local currency of the company.

  • Country/Region Key: IT cost management is usually executed at controlling area level, which spans multiple companies and legal entities. This field specifies the information of the countries/regions which can represent branches, subsidiaries, and so on.

  • Group Currency: You use this field to specify the currency of the group.
