Monitoring Data Collectors for Mobile Clients

Use

To monitor data collectors, you can use the data collector monitor. The monitor displays all available data collectors, as well as detailed information for each one. This information includes status, collected data, and the extraction properties. The data extraction process is triggered by a standard queue daemon, which you start and stop in the data collector monitor.

Prerequisites

You have created data collectors in the administration console, and called the data collector monitor in the SAP Easy Access screen, under Start of the navigation pathArchitecture and Technology Next navigation step Middleware Next navigation step Monitoring Next navigation step Mobile Client Next navigation step Monitor Data Collectors for Mobile ClientEnd of the navigation path.

Procedure

The followed detail information for the data collectors is displayed in the overview table on the initial screen: Name, status, period, next execution, last execution, and the duration of the last execution.

  • Changing data collector status

    1. The data collector status is displayed in the status column. In the menu, choose Start of the navigation pathCollector Next navigation step Stop Data CollectorEnd of the navigation path to stop the data collector. The status of the data collector is now displayed in red. This means that the data collector continues to collect data, but there is no extraction.

    2. If you want to restart the data collector, choose Start of the navigation pathCollector Next navigation step Restart Data CollectorEnd of the navigation path in the menu. The data collector now restarts.

  • Displaying assigned physical sites

    1. Select the data collector in the overview table, and choose Start of the navigation pathCollector Next navigation step Assigned SitesEnd of the navigation path in the menu.

    2. Then choose the symbol to the left of the site name, to display object information and dependent information about the selected site.

  • Displaying data collector content

    1. Select the data collector in the overview table, and choose Start of the navigation pathCollector Next navigation step Collector ContentEnd of the navigation path. The object type and its assigned instances now appear below the data collector. You also receive information about the number of different messages collected at this time.

    2. Double-click an object type to display more information about the object type, and so on. Use transaction SMOJDCTAB to directly call the current content of the data collector tables.

  • Maintaining the data collector

    1. Choose the symbol to the left of the data collector that you want to maintain. Object information and dependent information is displayed in the administration console.

    2. If necessary, you can use site attributes to change the date of the next extraction, for example.

  • Starting extraction manually

    For test purposes, you can also start the extraction process manually.

    1. First, select the data collector for which you want to start an extraction.

    2. Choose Start of the navigation pathCollector Next navigation step Start ExtractionEnd of the navigation path. You can perform the extraction immediately, or as a background job.

  • Displaying the extraction log

    1. To display the extraction log, double-click the most recent execution of the required data collector. The log displays the BDoc message packages sent to the physical site during the most recent extraction.

    2. Double-click a BDoc message package to display more information. This takes you to transaction SMW01.

    Logs are reorganized every two days.
