September 2021 Mobile Standard Edition Admin Summary
Update #1
Release Note Summaries
With the September (9.95) SAP Concur mobile app release, travellers now have access to the new Taxation Summary screen in the mobile app. The taxation summary screen can be accessed from the report screen on the Details tab and displays the taxability and deductibility amount for relevant expense entries. This is required since the taxability and deductibility calculation are moved from the save expense to the prepayment step.
The Employee Taxability and Corporate Deductibility Service (T&DS) provides the ability to set up taxability and deductibility calculation configurations based on considerations such as country, expense type and policy. It also calculates taxability and deductibility amounts for configured allowances and expenses.
As a traveller, in several countries, some allowances or expenses are tax free, but only up to a certain amount. Any payment to the employee over and above these allowable tax-free thresholds is generally subject to income tax. An allowance or expense can be split into taxable and non-taxable portions to account for the portion of an expense that might be taxable to the employee.
As a company, in several countries, some spend is deductible from your corporation taxes as reclaimable Value-Added Tax (VAT). An expense can be split into deductible and non-deductible portions to account for the portion of an expense that might be deductible for the company. Once these deductible amounts are identified, the system can correctly calculate the reclaimable VAT.
Final calculations are performed after processor approval (pre-payment step), although users can preview of the expected calculations on the Report Details > Taxation Summary page in the web version of SAP Concur.
Business Purpose/Client Benefit: This new Taxation Summary screen provides mobile users with the ability to check the taxability and deductibility calculation values before submitting an expense claim.
At the end of September, the Concur Mobile Registration page will be updated. To navigate to the updated Concur Mobile Registration page, click Profile > Profile Settings > Concur Mobile Registration. The updated Concur Mobile Registration page includes three new sections:
Mobile Sign-In Policies
Sign-In IDs
Download the App
Business Purpose/Client Benefit: The Concur Mobile Registration page update provides users with more information on their sign-in IDs and their organisation's mobile sign-in policies.
SAP Concur updates the minimum operating system regularly in order to ensure the best possible experience for mobile users. With the September (9.95) Mobile release, SAP Concur will update the minimum operating system to v8.0 (Oreo, API 26).
The August release (9.94) will be the final release for versions v7.0 (Android Oreo API 25) of the Android operating system.
Please ensure that the operating system on all user devices has been updated to at least v8.0 (Oreo, API 26).
Be aware that users will not be forced to upgrade their device’s operating system, but users on older operating systems will not be able to install versions of the SAP Concur mobile app after v9.95.
With the September (9.95) Mobile release, SAP Concur solutions now provides support for a seamless Single Sign On (SSO) experience - for Android users - by using the AppConfig (English Only) settings in their Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to automatically sign into the SAP Concur mobile app. When users open the SAP Concur mobile app on their Android mobile devices, they are automatically signed into the mobile app without any interaction.
For more information on Single Sign-On (SSO), refer to the Shared: Single Sign-On Set-Up Guide (English only).
Business Purpose/Client Benefit: This new sign-on experience allows Android users to automatically sign into the mobile app without any requirements to manually enter their credentials while signing into the app.
These changes are part of the SAP Concur solutions’ continued commitment to maintaining secure authentication.
The SAP Concur mobile app Auto Sign-In setting can be enabled or disabled for a company. If it is enabled for the company and if a user subsequently enables the setting in their SAP Concur mobile app settings, after a user signs in to the mobile app, they are never again prompted to enter credentials to sign in to the app.
With the November 2020 release, SAP Concur solutions implemented a redesigned sign in page that does not support the Auto Sign-In setting in the SAP Concur mobile app. The redesigned sign in page instead supports the mobile authentication lifetime policy, which enables clients to specify a period of time after which uses must re-enter their credentials to sign in to the SAP Concur mobile app.
Like the Auto Sign-In setting, the mobile authentication lifetime policy can be enabled or disabled for a company. If the policy is disabled, after initially signing in to the app, users are not prompted for credentials again unless they manually sign out of the app, similar to the Auto Sign-In setting. If the policy is enabled, users are prompted to reauthenticate after the period of time specified by the policy has elapsed.
Business Purpose / Client Benefit: The retirement of the automatic sign-in feature and implementation of the mobile authentication lifetime policy better supports secure authentication by removing the less secure automatic sign-in setting.
The Mobile Sign In page has been redesigned and improved. The enhancements improve the user experience, improve security and simplify configuration. These changes also assist customers who use more than one Identity Provider (like OKTA or Azure) for Single Sign-On (SSO).
Users see the new sign-in pages and have an option to switch back to the old sign-in page design. The option to switch between the old and new page designs will be removed in the October release (9.96).
These changes are part of the SAP Concur solutions’ continued commitment to maintaining secure authentication.
With the November 2020 Mobile release (9.86), SAP Concur solutions introduced a redesigned mobile sign-in page. To support the upcoming retirement of the Mobile PIN sign-in option, the new page design does not support mobile PIN sign-in. However, users can click a link at the top of the redesigned sign-in page to switch back to the old sign-in page design and can use the mobile PIN sign-in option on that page.
SAP planned to retire the mobile PIN sign-in option and remove the ability to switch back to the old sign in experience in the May 2021 mobile release (9.91). In response to client feedback and to provide clients with more time to adjust to the retirement of the mobile PIN sign-in option, SAP postponed removal of the option to switch between the old and new page designs to the October release (9.96). Prior to the October release (9.96), users can continue to use the mobile PIN sign-in option by switching back to the old page design, but SAP strongly recommends clients transition their users to the new sign-in experience as soon as possible.
SAP also plans to make the following improvements to the sign-in experience:
Enhancements to help users learn what options they have to sign in to the mobile app, how to sign in and how often their organisation requires them to sign in
Enhancements to encourage the use of biometric sign-in such as fingerprint TouchID and face recognition integration
Updates to our existing documentation and the training materials available to users
Improvements to responses to user questions and feedback in the app stores
On the new sign-in page and with the retirement of the mobile PIN sign-in option, users can continue to sign into the mobile app through the following methods:
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Mobile SSO
SAP Concur SAML v2 SSO (SAML v2)
Username and password
Verified email address and password
For companies that have Single Sign-On (SSO) enabled for the web version of SAP Concur solutions, we recommend that they enable SSO on the SAP Concur mobile app, ideally migrating to SAML v2.
For information about migrating to SAML v2, refer to the SSO Service: Overview Guide (English Only) and the Shared: SSO Management Setup Guide (English Only).
Business Purpose / Client Benefit: The retirement of the mobile PIN sign-in option better supports secure authentication by removing the less secure PIN option, simplifies the way users sign into the SAP Concur mobile app and makes the mobile sign-in experience more consistent with the Web sign-in experience.
Planned Change Summaries
The items in this section are summaries of the changes targeted for future releases. SAP Concur reserves the right to postpone implementation of – or completely remove – any enhancement/change mentioned here.
IMPORTANT: These Planned Changes may not be all of the upcoming enhancements and modifications that affect this SAP Concur product or service. The Planned Changes that apply to multiple SAP Concur products and/or services are in a consolidated document. Please review the additional Planned Changes admin summaries available in the September 2021 Shared Planned Changes Standard Edition Admin Summary.
ExpenseIt clients in the North American data centre using the U.S.-based AMEX corporate card in the SAP Concur mobile app will no longer have the use of the Real Time Alert (RTA) feature. This feature, which notifies the card user whenever their card is charged, displays a reminder to take a picture of the receipt for the charge.
WHY THIS FEATURE IS BEING RETIRED
The RTA feature is useful as a reminder for our clients, but adoption by users has dropped off significantly. At the same time, additional features, such as smart matching of card, e-receipt and paper receipt capture fulfill a similar business value. Additionally, retiring the RTA feature opens opportunities for additional feature work that will benefit the client in other areas of the product.
Business Purpose/Client Benefit: This feature retirement allows development of additional features for ExpenseIt in the SAP Concur Mobile app.
