Mapping a User to Remote Systems

Prerequisites

The content administrator has assigned you mapping permission to the target system (see Accessing Back-End Systems with a Different User ID ).

Context

Content usage mode: remote role assignment, remote delta link, WSRP application sharing

Applies to: business users of FPN content

Portal users can enter and map their own their logon information (such as user name and password) to remote-based iViews, just as they can with local iViews. This enables users on one portal (consumer) to access and retrieve secure data from a data source residing on a remote portal (producer) within the federated portal network (FPN). User mapping enables single sign-on so that users are not prompted for logon information every time an iView retrieves data from a secure source.

This topic describes how end users can map their portal logon information to remote systems. This procedure is the same for remote SAP NetWeaver iViews provided through all the content usage modes supported by SAP Enterprise Portal.

Procedure

  1. In the portal masthead, choose Start of the navigation pathPersonalize Next navigation step PortalEnd of the navigation path.

  2. Choose User Mapping (Remote iViews) .

  3. From the Remote Content Provider dropdown list, select the name of the remote producer portal for which you want to enter your user logon information.

  4. From the System dropdown list, select the target system.

  5. In the User and Password fields, enter the system logon credentials. If you are not defined as a user for a system, enter the user name and password of a defined user; you will be mapped to the logon ID of that user.

  6. Save your changes, or choose Clear to undo your changes or to remove the current user and password.

  7. Close the window and return to the main portal screen.
