Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent

If there are multiple characteristics in the drilldown of a query, the threshold value conditions with absolute values for all characteristics in drilldown independent is not useful in most cases. The setting All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent is especially intended for threshold conditions with relative key figures. This setting is also suitable for ranked list conditions.

In general, the setting All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent is intended for queries with only one characteristic in the drilldown, in which you can switch the characteristics, and can use one single condition to answer various questions regarding Top 3 Customers and Top 3 Products.

You have the following example query in which you are analyzing the net revenue of your products in relation to your customers:

Threshold Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent: Net Revenue > $ 60,000

Now you want to see all customers and the associated products that have net revenues of more than $60,000. Define the following condition:

When you are defining the condition, choose All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent, under Characteristic Assignment.
Enter the following conditioning row:
Choose the key figure Net Revenue, the operator greater than and enter 60,000 as the value.

In the query, you see only those customers and products that have net revenues of more than $60,000.

The system proceeds as follows:

First the system checks the individual results. If the condition does not apply, the entire block of results and the associated single values are hidden. If the condition applies, the result is displayed and the system checks the single values. If a single value passes the test, it is displayed. If a single value does not pass the test, it is hidden.

For example, if a single value fits the condition and passes the test, but the associated result does not, then the single value that does fulfill the condition is not displayed. This often-unexpected behavior can result when another single value in this block is a negative value.

Rule 9: Procedure for Condition Checks with Multiple Characteristics in the Drilldown

If there are several characteristics in the drilldown and if a results row on this multi-level drilldown list does not fulfill the conditions and is then filtered out, then all of the associated detail rows and detailed (interim) results rows disappear.

Note

If you evaluate single values, we recommend that you not define the condition for all characteristics in the drilldown independently. Instead use the setting Single Characteristics and Characteristic Combinations when defining the condition and select the desired characteristic. Note that with a drilldown with multiple characteristics, the characteristic to be evaluated (in the example above, this would be the characteristic Product for the single values) must be the characteristic on the far right side.

If there are multiple characteristics in the drilldown of a query, threshold value conditions with absolute values for all characteristics in the drilldown independent are unsuitable in most cases because the counted values of the single values are on a different scale from the counted values of the results. In the example above, the single values have an average of about $ 80,000, while the results have an average of about $ 300,000. In the following example with a threshold condition on relative values, you see that the counted values for the single values and the counted values for the results are similar. A threshold condition can be quite useful in this case.

Threshold Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent: Variance Net Revenue 2000/2001 > 5%

You have the following example query, in which you are analyzing the net revenue from 2001 for your products in relation to your customers and include the percentage variance of the net revenue for 2001 compared with 2000:

Now you want to see each row that has a variance of more than five percent, so you define the following condition:

When you are defining the condition, choose All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent, under Characteristic Assignment.
Enter the following conditioning row:
Choose the key figure % Variance to 2000, the operator greater than and enter 5 as the value.

In the query, you only see the customer Acadia Transfer Inc, along with the associated products:

Ranked List Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent: Top 2 Customers and Top 2 Products

You want to see the two customers with the most revenue and the two products with the most revenue. Define the following condition:

When you are defining the condition, choose All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent, under Characteristic Assignment.
Enter the following conditioning row:
Choose the key figure Net Revenue, the operator Top N and enter 2 as the value.

In the query, you see both the two customers with the highest revenue and the associated two products with the highest revenue.

The setting All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent can be applied universally to a query with multiple characteristics in the drilldown and to a ranked list condition. For example, if you choose Switch Product with Customer in the context menu, you will see the products with the highest revenue and the two associated customers with the highest revenue. The setting All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent is especially suitable for drilldown switching. If you only drilldown one characteristic in the query and have a ranked list condition Top 5, for example, you can switch the characteristics and then evaluate the Top 5 Products, then the Top 5 Customers or the Top 5 Sales Channels and so on, using only one condition.
