Example: Defining Cells for Changes to Key Figures

Procedure

1. Call Cell Definition

  1. Call the cell definition function in BEx Query Designer.
  2. A table appears containing the columns and rows that you defined inExample: Defining Filters, Free Characteristics, Columns and Rows. The cells are empty and need to be filled as follows:

Cell Definition

Reporting Period /&0T_FPERF& to &0T_FPERT& Comparison Period /&0T_FPERF& to &0T_FPERT& Second Comparison Period /&0T_FPERF& to &0T_FPERT&

2. Define Cell References

  1. To define a cell in the table as a reference for subsequent use in formulas, select the cell and choose New Cell Reference in the context menu.
  2. Give the cell reference a unique description (Column Name/Row Name for example) so that it can be quickly identified. Change the description in the Properties of the Selection/Formuladialog.

The cell reference is flagged in the table using the symbol.

3. Define Changes to Basic Key Figures

  1. To calculate changes to the basic key figures, place the cursor in the relevant cell, choose New Formula from the context menu and define the cell using the cell references as operands.
    • Define the formulas for the cells in the Reporting Period column as follows:

      Reporting Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>

    • Define the formulas for the cells in the Comparison Period column as follows:

Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Second Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>

  2. Give the formulas a unique description (Column Name/Row Name for example) so that they can be quickly identified. Change the description in the Properties of the Selection/Formuladialog.

The formulas are flagged in the table using the symbol.

4. Define Increase / Decrease of Basic Key Figures

  1. To calculate increases and decreases of basic key figures, place the cursor in the relevant cell, choose New Formula from the context menu and define the cell using the cell references as operands.
    • Define the formulas for the cells in the Reporting Period column as follows:
      • Increases : MAX0 (Reporting Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>)
      • Decreases : MIN0 (Reporting Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>
    • Define the formulas for the cells in the Comparison Period column as follows:
      • Increases MAX0 (Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Second Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>)
      • Decreases MIN0 (Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows> - Second Comparison Period / <Key Figure from the Rows>)
  2. Give the formulas a unique description (Column Name/Row Name for example) so that they can be quickly identified. Change the description in the Properties of the Selection/Formuladialog.

The formulas are flagged in the table using the symbol.
