Changing Variable Values
Use
You use this function to change values for all variables associated with queries in your workbook. When you execute the queries, the results are displayed for the selected variables.
You can also personalize variables. You can personalize single variables and all variables in a query executed in the BEx Analyzer. By personalizing the variables, you assign values to them that are used until you reset the personalization. Personalization means that you do not have to repeatedly manually configure your personal variable settings.
For more information, seePersonalizing Variables.
You can save a variant for a query after you have filled the variable with values according to your requirements. A query variant is a query for which variable values have already been selected. When you next open the workbook, you can call the variant. You can create multiple variants so that you can choose different variable values. However, only one variant can be active at any one time.
For more information, seeSaving Query Variants.
Prerequisites
You are using a query that contains at least one input-ready variable.
Procedure

- Open the dialog box for selecting variable values. The following options are available:
- If you open a query or a workbook, the Select Values for Variables dialog box is displayed automatically.
- If you have already executed a query in a workbook, choose Change Variable Values in the analysis toolbar or BEx Analyzer → Analysis Toolbar → Change Variable Values.
- Select values for the variables that are saved in the query.
If you use input help to select variables, select the required variable value from the list of available values. You can also enter the value manually.
- You can optionally upload additional data for the selected variable and use it in the executed query.
- In the input help dialog, choose More >> to display the area to the right where the selection you last made is displayed.
- If you chose a variable value from the list of available values, add this to the Selection pane by choosing the arrow button.
- Select the variable value in the Selection pane, call the context menu, and choose Upload Selections.
- In the Explorer, choose the required file: The file is uploaded.
- To check the selected variable values, choose Check.
If the values are correct, the dialog for the variable selection closes, and the query is executed using the changed variable values.
Result
You have selected other values for the variables that belong to queries in your workbook and executed the query.
