Definition of a Higher-Level Promotion
From a business perspective, promotions differ according to the articles, activities or dates they involve. To evaluate promotions, for example, you may have to combine several promotions.
To group promotions for organizational purposes, you can define one higher-level promotion and assign promotions to it. The higher-level promotion uses Promotion Category
, Promotion Theme
and Promotion Type
, to increase the grouping options for promotions.
Higher-level promotions can also be used to carry out SAP ERP (SAP Retail) promotions as part of SAP CRM campaigns.
You create higher-level promotions in the Promotion
component, or by using Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs).
You are using SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW), as of version 3.2.
If subsequent processing has not started yet, you can define one promotion as a higher-level promotion.
If you have not yet assigned any promotions to a higher-level promotion, you can change it to a promotion.
You can process a higher-level promotion in the same way as a promotion by, for example, defining articles or site groups for it.
If you create a promotion, you can use Reference Promotion
to copy the settings from an existing higher-level promotion.
The system does not create the new promotion as a higher-level promotion. You can assign the new promotion to the higher-level reference promotion.
To define a promotion as a higher-level promotion, you set the Higher-Level Promo. (Higher-Level Promotion)
indicator in the promotion header data.
You want to plan and evaluate the Water Sports, Swim Wear, and Camping promotions together. To do this, you create a higher-level promotion called Summertime and assign these promotions to it.
