You can get an impression of the Search Engine Service integration in the F4 search help concept by running transaction SE12 (ABAP Dictionary). This section describes how you can do this.
Starting and Testing F4 Search Help for SFLIGHT_SES
- Start transaction SE12.
- Choose the radio button Search help and enter SFLIGHT_SES in the input field.
- Choose Display.
The definition screen for the search help appears.
- Choose the Test… (F8) icon.
- Choose ENTER.
The F4 selection screen for the Advanced Search for SFLIGHT (using Search Engine Service) appears.
- Choose ENTER again without filling in any search values
A search for all values is started and an initial hit list appears.
- Note some of the values in the hit list and use these to continue testing.
This gives you an impression of the specific benefits of the search engine: Full text search and fuzzy search.
Display SES Documentation for End Users and Developers
- Documentation for end users
To display the end user documentation for the F4 selection screen, choose F1 for the Full Text Search and Fuzzy Mode fields during testing.
- Documentation for developers
The developer documentation that is used for the generic search help exit appears when you double-click the name COM_SE_F4_HELP_EXIT on the search help definition screen and then choose Function Module Documentation.

- You can find the associated documentation in the transaction SES_ADMIN.
Navigate as follows: Menu → Help → Application Help.
- If the help has not been installed correctly on your system, you can find the current documentation at Administration of the Search Engine Service.
