Removing Hidden Objects and Attributes

Use

Some scenes, especially those containing CAD models, can comprise many objects. The application may not need to see internal objects or certain attributes. Additionally, it may not need to contain those objects that are hidden. You can simplify the model by hiding or deleting these objects. This function can be helpful in reducing the file size if you choose to delete objects.

There are two removal tools on the CADTools toolbar:

  • Remove Hidden Objects.

  • Remove Attributes.

Activities

Removing Hidden Objects or Internal Parts

  1. Open a 3D file and choose Remove Hidden Objects.

  2. Make your selections as required, and click OK.

All hidden parts are removed from the selected objects. Internal objects are hidden, selected, or deleted depending on your selection. Note that if you want to delete objects in the interior, these objects must be visible (not hidden). Removing internal parts doesn't delete hidden objects, even when they're internal.

Removing UVs, Part IDs, Normals or Metadata

  1. Open a 3D file, select the required objects, and choose Remove Attributes.

  2. Make your selections as required and click OK.

The selected attributes are removed from the objects.
