Procedures

Use

Procedures within the manufacturing industry are often focused on assembly, disassembly, testing, maintenance, and service. Procedures are sometimes referred to as work instructions.

A procedure within SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author is a series of steps with an animation sequence or sequences attached to each step.

Activities

Creating a Procedure

Open the Steps and Procedures panel.
Right-click and select New Procedure.
Right-click the new procedure in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Rename Procedure.
Right-click the new procedure in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Create Step to add steps.

Playing a Procedure

Do one of the following:

Select the procedure in the Steps and Procedures panel and click Play.
Right-click the procedure you want to play in the Steps and Procedures panel, and click .

Stopping Playing a Procedure

Click Stop . The procedure that is currently playing stops.

Deleting a Procedure

Right-click the procedure you want to delete in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Delete Procedure.

Duplicating a Procedure

Right-click the procedure you want to duplicate in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Duplicate.

The procedure, and all steps within the procedure, are duplicated.

Duplicating a Procedure with the Steps in Reverse Order

Right-click the procedure you want to duplicate in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Duplicate and Reverse.

Reversing the Order of Steps

Right-click the name of the procedure you want to reverse.
Select Reverse. The order of all steps within the procedure is reversed, and the steps now appear in descending order. The animation sequence order and direction within the steps is also reversed.

Renaming a Procedure

Click the name of the procedure you want to rename.
Type the new name.

Renumerating Steps in a Procedure

Author, reorder, and/or reverse the steps in the procedure to your satisfaction.
Right-click the name of the procedure you wish to renumerate in the Steps and Procedures panel, and choose Renumerate Steps.

Note

Some steps may not require a number; for example, “Safety Step” or “Preparation Step”. If you've renamed a step and removed the number, its name not changed. The unnumbered steps display at the end of the procedure.

Editing the Procedure’s Properties

Right-click the procedure you wish to edit in the Steps and Procedures panel, and select Procedure Properties.
Edit the properties as required, and click OK.

Expanding and Collapsing Steps within Procedures

Do one of the following:
- Choose in the Steps and Procedures panel to expand all steps within the procedures.
- Choose in the Steps and Procedures panel to collapse all steps to procedure level.
