Standard and Legacy Layouts

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author simplifies authoring by using a single file format for creation, update, delivery and consumption. In order to achieve this, we offer a single file format for authoring: VDS.

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9 contains two layouts:

  1. Standard Layout: This layout is designed to be used with VDS 4 files. It contains reduced functionality; that is, DVL core v9.0 supported features only. Standard Layout is the default layout, and is configured for Omni-channel authoring – Standard (VDS). All authoring features will work the same on all platforms and viewers.

  2. Legacy Layout: All features and tools are available as in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 8.0. This layout is designed to be used with RH files.

Standard (VDS) Layout

This is the default layout for SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author. This layout enables new and existing tools and features which are fully compatible with all Visual Enterprise viewers.

  • Review Changes Window: Displays the results of the update and provides tools to reconcile affected authoring

Each component has its own set of Persistent Identifiers. These are read from CAD files or generated for user created content

Legacy (RH) Layout

This layout supports all traditional RH based workflows. All tools and features are enabled.
