Light Information

Use

The Light information is used to modify settings for the selected light object. Note that additional settings can be modified using the Light tab page.

Features

The Light information offers the following features:

Elements

Functional Description

Light Type

Displays the type of light that is selected. This is mapped from the many possible kinds of lights that can exist in the many supported formats and simplified to the model used in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author.

Light Color

Used to open the color selector and select a color for the light

Intensity Scale

The intensity of light. For example, if a value of 2 is entered, the intensity is two times the light setting. If .5 is entered, the intensity is a half.

Inner Radius

The inner radius of the light beam

Outer Radius

The outer radius of the light beam

Inner Angle

The inner angle of the light beam

Outer Angle

The outer angle of the light beam

Attenuation

Used to modify the attenuation settings for the object. Light attenuation is a vector of attenuation factors. Point or spot lights light objects based on the distance from the object’s vertices to the light’s position based on certain formulas as described below.

  • Attenuation: Used to determine how the attenuated light is displayed.

    • None: Does not attenuate the light.

    • Linear: Displays light as a linear attenuation between two values.

    • Exponential: Displays attenuated light based on the formula 1/(C+L*D+Q*D*D), where D is the distance from the vertex position to the light position, C is the attenuation constant factor, L is the attenuation linear factor, and Q is the attenuation quadratic factor.

  • Constant: The constant factor (C in the equation) used to calculate exponential attenuated light.

  • Linear: The linear factor (L in the equation) used to calculate exponential attenuated light.

  • Quadratic: The quadratic factor (Q in the equation) used to calculate exponential attenuated light.
