Callouts
Use
You can use callouts to direct attention to, and identify parts of a model. A callout consists of an assigned part identifier and a line pointing to the part. Once drawn, they can be rendered to vector format using the Vector Illustration tool.
Callouts are contained within a Callout List, and each Callout List has an associated profile. A profile is a group of settings, which determines the way in which the callouts both display and behave. The profile is stored in a separate file. These settings are stored as XML files in /Users/[user name]/Application Data/SAP/SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author xx as .cst files. When a Callout List and associated profile is active, all callouts in the current Bill of Materials, (BOM), are drawn according to this profile.
The Edit Callout Profile window is used to establish all callout settings, including the placement of callouts and the callout color. After callouts are created, they can be transformed using the 3D Editor, edited and deleted, and rendered within the scene. You can also use the Edit Callout Profile window to establish new callout profiles.
Callouts can be hidden and shown in the same way as other objects, using the Scene tree and 3D viewport context menu.
Callout Rules
Certain rules apply to callouts:
-
The Callouts panel is used to manage callouts.
-
Callouts are markup objects, and as such are displayed within the Callout Layer object in the 3D Objects list when they are created, and in the Callouts panel.
-
Using the 3D Objects list, you can select, hide and show callouts, group and collapse their hierarchies, and delete callouts in the same way as other objects.
-
Callouts are attached to objects, and so, if you create callouts on a model with animation, the callouts are also animated.
-
If you use the BOM list to select callouts, the parts to which the callouts belong are also selected.
-
Callouts can be moved, rotated, and scaled separately from the model.
-
When you rotate, scale, or pan models, the callouts move in relation to the parts while remaining the same size.
-
For callouts to be displayed on an image or model, the Show Markups command must be selected on the Scene Settings menu. The Scene Settings menu is accessed from the Navigation toolbar.
