Plug-In Manager

Use

The Plug-In Manager is a utility that lists the following information:

  • Plug-ins

  • Plug-in versions

  • Import and export settings, where appropriate

  • Plug-in conflicts

  • Security options

It’s used to view current plug-ins and files, establish import and export settings, and resolve plug-in conflicts.

Features

The Plug-In Manager contains three tab pages.

Plug-ins Tab Page

The Plug-Ins tab displays the plug-in name, version, description, status, size, and extensions. The tab also displays all supported import and export formats.

When SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author starts for the first time, each plug-in status is recorded as “Loaded” and a system file is created informing SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author which plug-ins are used. When you next start the application, this file is used to reference the plug-ins, existing plug-ins are recorded as “Defer”, and the application opens without delay.

From then on, only new plug-ins and plug-ins you choose to view in the application are recorded as loaded, indicating that:

  1. New plug-ins have yet to be added to the system file for future reference

  2. The plug-ins selected for viewing have been loaded into the application

Import/Export Filters

Extensions

Displays the extensions that are associated with the selected plug-in

File Formats Tab Page

The File Format tab displays a list of formats with various information including the format name, extension, type, whether files are import and export in nature, and their related plug-in.

The tab is used to resolve any plug-in or format conflicts (highlighted in orange), and modify and restore the default import and export properties. You can also move the format rows up and down within the list to view any plug-in or format conflicts more easily.

Most file extension conflicts are resolved automatically; if one plug-in can’t load a file with the supported file extension, the other plug-in tries to load the file.

Security Tab Page

The Security tab displays an option to enable sandbox security on plug-ins.

Security through sandboxing is achieved by granting the sandboxed code the least possible access rights and privileges, ensuring that it works in accordance with a predefined set of rules. The collection of rules that any code running in the Sandbox must obey is called a Policy. No other system resources beyond those resources defined in the Policy can be accessed or operated on from within the sandbox.

Not all the plug-ins are designed to run under sandbox mode. The following plug-ins are sandboxed:

AutoCAD plug-ins

  • DWF.x3d

  • DXFDWG.x3d

CAD plug-ins

  • CoreCAD_standard.x3d

  • Catia_standard.x3d

  • ProE_standard.x3d

  • JTOpen.x3d

  • UG_standard.x3d

Utility plug-ins

  • RHSolid.x3d

  • DKWriter.x3d

  • DKReader.x3d

  • Rhsolid_dk.x3d
