Using the Color Selector

Use

You use the color selector to apply custom colors.

The color selector is a palette of color that allows you to select an exact shade when applying color. Custom color can be set in many areas of SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author.

Features

You can use the color selector to do the following:

  • Color objects, materials, markups, and callouts

  • Apply colors for the display of scene elements

  • Modify colors of scene elements

Color Picker Window

You can view and modify the following color properties using the Color Picker window:

Elements

Functional Description

Current

Displays the currently selected color

Original

Displays the original color

Hex

Displays the hex coordinates of the currently selected color

RGB

Displays the RGB coordinates of the currently selected color

Expands the window to show the color palette

Hides the color palette

HSV Controls

Determines the level of the hue, saturation, and value components for HSV color. Move the slider to control the level of color for each component.

RGB Controls

Determines the level of the red, green, and blue color channels for RGB color. Move the slider to control the level of color for each component

Alpha Control

Determines the level of the transparency component known as the alpha channel

Store Color into First Empty Slot

Inserts the selected color into the first empty slot in the color palette

Scroll to Empty Slot

Goes to the empty slots in the color palette

Pick Color from Screen

Allows color selection from the desktop by drag and drop

Undo Palette

Undoes the latest change that you have made to the color palette

Redo Palette

Redoes the latest change that you have made to the color palette

Reset Palette

Resets the color palette

Simple Palette

Displays the simple color palette

Named Colors by Hue

Arranges the colors by hue

Named Colors by Lightness

Arranges the colors by lightness

My Palettes

Select a customized palette

Palette before Edit

Resets the palette

Load Palette from File

Opens a new color palette from file

Save Palette to File

Saves a color palette to file

Activities

Using the Color Selector

Where a color change is required, click the color selection option to open the color selector and modify the properties as required.

Modifying the Background of the Color Selector

Click the top left corner of the title bar, then choose one of the following:

  • Set Windows Default Color to display the Windows default color background.

  • Set Gray Color to display a gray background

  • Set Color from Window to display the selected palette color as the background color.

Displaying Tooltips on the Color Selector

Click the top left corner of the title bar, then choose Show Tooltip Help.
