BREP Tab Page

Use

The BREP tab becomes available when you display the properties of an individual NURBS BREP object.

BREP objects consist of several NURBS surfaces and trimmed curves attached to each surface. These curves may cut any shape from the original rectangular surface. When all of these surfaces are connected together, any geometry object can be represented.

You can double-click any row in the BREP tab to display the summary of the NURBS surface information.

Functional Description

Faces

Displays the parameters that determine the shape of the BREP's face.

  • Knots: The number of knots used to join the pieces of each face. BREP knots are similar in nature to that of the knots used to join pieces of string. The knot values are expressed in the U and V directions.

  • Order: The minimum number of control points required to define the shape of the face. The resulting face is equal to the sum of the effects from each control point. The order is expressed in the U and V directions.

  • Control Points: Determines the profile of the face. The resulting face is equal to the sum of the effects from each control point. A control point is like a magnet and a BREP face is like a strip of thin ferrous metal. The magnets are placed a various distances away from the metal. The metal is distorted. These distortions are created by the different magnetic strengths due to the proximity of the magnets to the metal strip.

  • Trim Curves: The number of loops that define the boundaries of a trimmed curve. Loops are formed by trimming curves or boundary curves.

Mesh Properties

Displays the properties for the selected object's mesh.

Activities

You can view BREP tab using one of the following methods:

  • Object Properties window > Object tab > Properties > BREP tab

  • Double-click the object in the object window and choose BREP tab
