Starting and Configuring SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio

Context

To develop mobile applications for handheld devices, you need to work in the Mobile Applications perspective of SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS).

To enable SAP NWDS to retrieve data from the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE) you need to define the connection between SAP NWDS and the DOE.

Procedure

  1. In SAP NWDS, open the Mobile Applications perspective:

    1. Choose Start of the navigation pathWindow Next navigation step Open Perspective Next navigation step OthersEnd of the navigation path.

    2. Select Mobile Applications and choose OK .

      A screen opens with the tabs Service Explorer , UI Explorer and Application Explorer , which support the development of mobile service components, mobile UI components, and mobile applications respectively

  2. Configure SAP NWDS to connect to the DOE:

    1. Choose Start of the navigation pathWindow Next navigation step PreferencesEnd of the navigation path.

    2. In the navigation tree on the left side, open the node Start of the navigation pathMobile Next navigation step General Next navigation step  Data Orchestration Engine.End of the navigation path

    3. Choose Add to add a new DOE configuration.

    4. In the dialog box, enter the following values:

      [NW AS System ID]

      Client

      [NW AS client]

      User Name

      [Your user name]

      Password

      [Your password]

      Server Name

      [NW AS host name]

      System Number

      [NW AS system number]

    5. Choose Test Configuration to test your entries.

    6. In the dialog box, confirm your password. Choose to save the password for the current session and choose OK .

    7. Make sure that the connection could be established successfully. The Configuration test report text box displays the result of the test.

    8. Choose OK to save the new settings.
