Navigating in the Results
Use
The search results are displayed in a list. To the left of the list, you can find a navigation area for further narrowing down the results.
The list is sorted by relevance, which is calculated based on the following factors:
-
Degree of match between the search team and the hit (from the exact character string to less exact matches)
-
Number of hits within an object (in documents or text fields proportional to the text length and frequency of other words)
An entry in the list corresponds to a business object or document and is structured as follows:
-
Image and title
The image is either an icon that illustrates the type of object found or a picture of the object, for example a photograph of a product. Depending on the object and the configuration, the title can be the document title, the material number, or the business partner name, for example.
-
Object type
The object type of the hit is displayed to the right of the title, for example marketing document or business partner.
-
Properties
Important properties of the object found are displayed below the title, for example the dimensions, price, and short description of a product.
-
Details and related actions
The links at the end of each entry allow you to display more details and, depending on the system configuration, related actions.
Procedure
You can perform the following actions in the results list and in the navigation area:
|
Action |
Explanation |
|---|---|
|
Narrow Down Hits |
You can narrow down the results further by drilling down in the navigation area through the categories to the subcategories and then to individual object types. The results list changes as a consequence of each selection. Selected categories and object types are highlighted. |
|
Filter Hits |
As soon as you have narrowed down the selection to objects with common properties, these properties and their values are displayed in the navigation area. You can click a value or a value range to filter results with these values, for example, all products that cost between €100 and €300. You can set more than one filter, whereby the filter properties move up in the navigation area. To remove individual filters again, click the cross ( X). To remove all filters for a property, click the property. To remove the entire filter, click Remove All Filters. |
|
Changing the Sort Order of the Results List |
As soon as you have narrowed down the search to objects with common properties, you can choose Sort By in the header to sort the results by these properties instead of by relevance. |
|
Scrolling in the Results List |
You can use the arrows and Results per Page in the footer to scroll between the pages and change the number of results per page. |
|
Displaying Details of an Object |
You can use Details and Close Details to show and hide an area on the right-hand side that displays all important properties for the selected object and further information. |
|
Performing Actions on an Object |
Clicking the title of a result launches an application to display or edit the business object or document. Depending on your configuration, the links next to Details allow further actions, such as jumping to related objects, for example from business partners to their purchase orders. |
