Function documentationWork Center

You use the work centers for the individual objects in SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) to display predefined object lists with object-specific information and customer-defined worklists for a particular PLM object type. The following work centers are available on the SAP PLM Web UI and can be selected from the Home area of the SAP NetWeaver Business Client depending on your role:

  • Materials

  • Material BOMs

  • Documents

  • Change Management

  • Object Access (access control contexts)

Features

The different work centers have some functions and screen areas in common. In addition, the work centers for documents and access control contexts have some special features.

Functions in All Work Centers

The following functions and screen areas are available in all work centers:

  • My Materials (or other objects)

The system displays your favorites as well as the most recently accessed and changed objects, the same as in the control center. The difference is that the lists in the work center only contain objects of the object type, for which the work center is defined. The system also displays object-specific information, such as base unit of measure, material type, or revision level, in addition to general information. For more information about the different object lists and how to configure and edit them, see Control Center in the My Objects section.

  • Personal Object Worklist for Materials (or other objects)

You can define your own queries, that is, your own worklist in this screen area, which is supplied as an empty screen area by SAP. You can change and rename the empty query or you can define a new query. This enables you, for example, to create a worklist which lists all material BOMs with the status Locked. You can use the Personalize link to delete or rename the tab pages. You can display or change the objects in the list by choosing the appropriate pushbutton.

You use the Business Add-In (BAdI) BAdI: Field Catalog Adjustment (/PLMU/EX_WCC_FCAT) to make further adjustments to the field settings and selection criteria of your worklists for the individual PLM object types, according to your individual requirements. For more information, see Customizing for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) under Start of the navigation path PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step PLM Web Applications Next navigation step PLM Tools and Web Access Next navigation step Enhancement Spot for Personal Object Worklist Next navigation step BAdI: Field Catalog Adjustment End of the navigation path.

  • Search and Transaction Links

You use the search to find individual objects that you have not yet specified as favorites, for example. For more information, see Search.

You can use the transaction links in the top screen area to call the transactions for creating, displaying, and changing objects of the object type of the relevant work center.

Special Features of Individual Work Centers

The work centers for documents and access control contexts have the following special features:

  • Documents

The My Documents screen area contains an additional list of checked-out documents. The content of the public and personal folders is also displayed in the work center in the document browser.

  • Object Access

The My Contexts screen area contains the additional tab pages Contexts Administered by Me and My Contexts. The My Contexts tab page lists access control contexts to which you are assigned.

The Object Access work center also includes the Object Transfer List. This list contains the objects you selected for assignment to an access control context (for example, from the object or the object navigator). You can select these objects and assign them to an access control context by choosing Start Transfer. For more information, see Setting of Transfer Options.

    Note Note

The Object Access work center is defined for administrative tasks and is therefore only available for certain roles.

    End of the note.
