The control center and work center are central applications on the Web user interface (Web UI) of SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM). They enable you to get an overview of the PLM objects you are working on, as well as to search for objects, and call up individual objects directly and edit them. There are some differences between the control center and the work center:

  • Control center

    The control center is the central initial screen on the Web UI of SAP PLM and provides an overview of the objects of different PLM object types you are working on. It also provides central access to these objects. The information displayed in the object lists presents the information from the different work centers in consolidated form. You can also specify default values for the navigation.

  • Work center

    You use the work center to work with objects of a specific object type, such as materials or material BOMs. The system also displays object-specific information, such as the material type of a material in the predefined object lists. In addition, you can define personal object worklists for the individual objects.

You can only use the work center and the control center if the following authorization objects are assigned to you through a role:

  • S_PB_CHIP

  • S_PB_PAGE
