Documents Types in Forms

For each data entry step and each list of folders in a package definition, you select the read document types and the write document type that are applied when entering data in the forms.

You must select a write document type. However, a read document type is optional. The read document types and the write document type can be different from one list of folders to another. This allows you to use the same folder with different read and write document types.

To enter data in the form, you must include a write document type as changes to the amounts are stored on the write document type. If you want to collect data on aggregated document types you must include both read and write document types. For more information, see Enter Data on Aggregated Document Types.

You can use the following document types:

  • Read document type

Document types with posting levels Blank, 00, and 0C.

  • Write document type

Document types with posting levels 00 or 0C, and where the business application equals A.

When you run a form in the Enter Package Data app, the document types are applied based on the document types defined in the package definition and possibly the form. The document types are applied as follows:
  • If document types are entered in the package definition only, then the document types entered in the package definition are applied.

  • If the document types are entered in the package definition and in a form, and if there is a set of document types that is common to both the package definition and the form, then these common document types are used.

  • If the write document type is different in the form and the package definition (there is no common write document type), the form is run and displayed as read only.

  • If the document types are different in the form and the package definition (there is no common set of document types), an icon is shown: , letting you know that the form can't be run.

  • If the document types are not entered when you create the form and the Read Only: Document Types in Filter Bar checkbox is not selected, then you can select document types in the filter bar when you run the form.
