Creating a Document Template

You use this procedure to create a document template that helps you to maintain document information, attribute groups, industry standards, and groups assignment information pertaining to a document.

Prerequisites

Your user ID has the roles TEMPLATE_DELETE or TEMPLATE_EDIT assigned.

Procedure

  1. Launch the Templates application.
  2. Choose Start of the navigation pathDocument Templates  Next navigation step New End of the navigation path and proceed as follows:
    1. In the New Document Template dialog box, enter values for the fields as described in the table below:

      Field

      Description

      Template ID(*)

      Enter the template ID.

      Short Description(*)

      Enter a short description.

      Long Description

      Enter a long description.

      Parent Subclass/Document Template

      Select a subclass or another document template as the parent template.

      Industry Standards

      Add an industry standard.

    2. Choose OK.
      The system creates a document template.
  3. To edit the description of the template, choose Edit Description in the selected template header and proceed as follows:
    1. In the Edit dialog box, enter a suitable description in the Description text box.
    2. Choose Save.
  4. To add attributes to the template, choose Start of the navigation pathAdd Next navigation step Add Attribute GroupsEnd of the navigation path in the object page header and proceed as follows:
    1. In the Add Attribute Groups dialog box, select existing attribute groups from the list or add new attribute group using New .

    2. Choose OK.
  5. To add an industry standard to the template, perform the following tasks:
    1. Go to the Industry Standard section on the template and choose Add Industry Standard.
    2. In the Industry Standard popup, select the industry standard you want to assign to the template object.

      You can also directly add an industry standard to an attribute.

    1. To add to an existing attribute, select the attribute and choose Edit Attribute.
    2. In the Edit Attribute popup, choose Start of the navigation pathIndustry Standards Next navigation step Add Industry StandardEnd of the navigation path.
    3. To add to a new attribute, choose Start of the navigation pathAdd Attribute Next navigation step New AttributeEnd of the navigation path and enter all attribute-relevant information.
    4. In the Industry Standards section, choose Add Industry Standard to add industry standard to the attribute group.
    5. In the Industry Standards popup, select an industry standard and enter an industry Standard ID.
    6. Choose OK.
  6. You can add the template to a group using the Group button. For more information, see Groups.
  7. Semantic Reference
    You can add a semantic reference to the templates that you own by using Add Semantic Reference. Choose Save. You can further edit the reference using icon or delete it using icon.

Results

  • You can update the template with new attribute groups and attributes.

  • You can reorder the attribute groups using the Reorder button on the details screen.

  • You can delete a template using the Delete button on the details page or multiple templates using the same button on the list page.

  • You can use the Share button to share the template with other connected business partners.
