Creating a System Template

You use this procedure to create a system template that helps you to maintain system information, attribute groups, industry standards, and groups assignment information pertaining to system.

Prerequisites

Your user ID has the roles TEMPLATE_DELETE or TEMPLATE_EDIT assigned.

Procedure

Launch the Templates application.

Choose

System Templates Next navigation step

New System Template End of the navigation path

and proceed as follows:

In the New System Template dialog box, enter values for the fields as described in the table below:

Field	Description
Template ID(*)	Enter the template ID. Note There are no spaces allowed in the ID. You cannot change the ID of the template once it has been created.
Short Description(*)	Enter a short description.
Long Description	Enter a long description.
Parent Subclass/System Template	Select a subclass or another system template as the parent template. Note You can also create a system template without a parent template.
Industry Standards	Add an industry standard. Note This field is scope-specific. Template objects can have only one industry standard assigned to them. They can also have no industry standards assignments. If an industry standard is assigned to a template object, you can change or delete it. Note You can add multiple versions of same industry standard for attribute, attribute groups, templates, code lists, and nested structures. You cannot assign different type of industry standards to the same object, for example, if you have assigned eclass 10.1 to an object, then you can only add eclass 12.0 but not any other type of industry standard like mimosa to that object.

Choose OK.
The system creates a system template.
Note
Multi-level inheritance is supported, that is:

you can create a system template under another system template

you can create a system template with reference to a subclass

To edit the description of the template, choose Edit Description in the selected template header and proceed as follows:
1. In the Edit dialog box, enter a suitable description in the Description text box.
2. Choose Save.
To add attributes to the system template, choose Add Attribute Groups in the object page header and proceed as follows:
1. In the Add Attribute Groups dialog box, select existing attribute groups from the list or add new attribute group using New Attribute Group.
2. Choose OK.
To add an industry standard to the template, perform the following tasks:
1. Go to the Industry Standard section on the template and choose Add Industry Standard.
2. In the Industry Standard popup, select the industry standard you want to assign to the template object.

  Optionally, you can enter a standard ID or code as defined in an industry standard. You can only assign one industry standard for an object.
  
  You can also directly add an industry standard to an attribute.
  Note
  - Template objects can have only one industry standard type assigned to them. You can add multiple versions of same industry standard for attribute, attribute groups, templates, code lists, and nested structures.
    
    They can also have no industry standards assignments.
  - If an industry standard is assigned to a template object, you can change or delete it.
1. To add to an existing attribute, select the attribute and choose Edit Attribute.
2. In the Edit Attribute popup, choose Industry Standards Add Industry Standard.
3. To add to a new attribute, choose Add Attribute New Attribute and enter all attribute-relevant information.
4. In the Industry Standards section, choose Add Industry Standard to add industry standard to the attribute group.
5. In the Industry Standards popup, select an industry standard and enter an industry Standard ID.
6. Choose OK.
You can add the template to a group using the Group button. For more information, see Groups.
Semantic Reference
You can add a semantic reference to the templates that you own by using Add Semantic Reference. Choose Save. You can further edit the reference using icon or delete it using icon.
Note
- This Semantic Reference is unique for a specific object type. As in same Semantic Reference cannot be used for another template or attribute(for example, another equipment or model template or attributes or nested structures).
- You can enter maximum of 255 chararcters for reference. Semantic Reference supports simple text, URLs and special characters.
- For shared templates, the business partners can only view the semantic reference information but cannot delete or update them.

Results

You can update the template with new attribute groups and attributes.
