Creating Measuring Points and Counters

Prerequisites

Define Measuring Points

Before you can create measuring points and counters in the system, you must first define the measuring point categories that are valid for your system in Customizing.

Create Characteristics

You then have to ensure that the characteristics that you want to assign to the measuring points and counters have been created using classification. When processing measuring points and counters, you can use the following SAP Easy Access menu paths to access the characteristics:

Logistics Plant Maintenance Management of Technical Objects <technical object> (Functional Location or Equipment) Change .
On the initial screen, enter the functional location or equipment and confirm.

Choose the Measuring points/counters pushbutton. In the menu, then choose Environment Characteristics .

Logistics Plant Maintenance Management of Technical Objects Environment Classes Master Data Characteristics .

Create Code Groups

If you want to assign qualitative characteristic values to measurement and counter readings, the code groups that you enter for these values in the master records of the measuring points/counters must also have been created in the system.

Activities

	Creating a Measuring Point/Counter when Processing a Technical Object	Creating a Measuring Point/Counter Directly
1.	From the master record of the technical object, call the Maintain Measuring Points: Overview screen.	Call the initial screen directly.
2.	If you want to create a counter, select the MeasPoint is counter checkbox.
3.	Enter the required data on the overview screen.	Assign a technical object on the initial screen.
4.	The system assigns a number to the measuring point/counter.
5.	Enter the required data on the detail screen.
