Updating the Developer Studio
The Update Manager is a standard function of Eclipse and is used to update the features/plug-ins of the Developer Studio. The Update Manager needs Internet access. It connects to the update site of the Developer Studio and examines its content. When an update is detected, you are informed which feature it is, you have to accept the license agreements and than you can initiate the installation.
Check the Current Version of Developer Studio and Features
To find out the Developer Studio version, choose Help → About SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
The dialog window displays the version of the Developer Studio and provides information about the installed features and plug-ins.
For example, if you choose Installation Details button, you get more details, and a list of installed features with version number. SAP's features are listed under provider name SAP AG. If you choose a feature in the table you can view the details about this feature. In the Plug-ins tab page you get the information, which plug-ins are assigned to this feature and which version the plug-ins have.
If you cannot start the Developer Studio, you can check the version by browsing the installation folder you have chosen for the Developer Studio (for example Program Files/SAP/IDE) with the Windows Explorer. Open the archive file com.sap.ide.netweaver.developerstudio.branding_<version_id>. You can find the version information of the Developer Studio in the file plugin.properties.
Checking for Updates
Depending on the preferences of the Developer Studio, the update connects automatically at startup. The preferences for the update can be set under Window → Preferences →Install/Update. If you want to start the update process manually, from the menu path choose Help → Check for Updates.
