AS Java provides the complete infrastructure for deploying and running Java applications in SAP NetWeaver.

AS Java is optimized to run mission critical business applications and provides a number of new concepts and enhanced features, such as:

· Increased robustness and stability of the server infrastructure and applications

· Simplification of server infrastructure and improved supportability

· Advanced administration capabilities provided by the Zero Administration concept

· Enhanced monitoring and easy access to all monitoring data

· Integration of SAP Java Virtual Machine with additional capabilities

· Central cache management and session management

AS Java Cluster Architecture - a cluster is a building unit of the application server which includes all the components that actually enable user requests to be processed.

SAP JVM - SAP's implementation of a Java Virtual Machine, which is the runtime platform of AS Java.

AS Java System Architecture - the logical layers of AS Java system components and the relations among them.

Zero Administration - a dynamic and template-based configuration that simplifies the technical configuration within AS Java.
