Environment Status

An environment can have a status of either Online or Offline.

A newly created environment has a status of Offline until an administrator makes it available for use by giving it a status of Online.

Features

When users attempt to log on to an environment that is offline, the system displays a warning to remind the users of the environment's status. With proper authorizations, users can continue to log on without affecting the functionality or data that the users can access.

When you transport an environment, the status of the environment must be set to Offline. When you perform consolidation functions, make sure the status of the environment is Online.

For additional information about the status of environments, refer to SAP note 1699786 Information published on SAP site.

Activities

To manually set the status of an environment, follow these steps:
  1. On the upper right corner of the screen, click the button.
  2. Choose Manage All Environments.
  3. Choose an environment and click Change Status.

You can enter a message to display to users who try to perform a restricted task while the environment is offline. We recommend including the current date and time and giving an estimated time of when the environment will become available, if appropriate.
